At age
eleven, I was introduced to sailing by an uncle in Halifax, NS. The next
year with plans provided by my uncle, I built a sailboat for the family
cottage, later graduating to a windsurfer and an Albacore.
In my
late 20s, I took off on a ten week sailing adventure on 56 trimaran
leaving from Beaufort, NC. and ending up at Dead Man's Quay in the
Bahamas.
In 1990, I bought and completely rebuilt a Catalina 27 and then rebuilt a
Roberts 45.
In 1994, after driving truck for twenty-three years and with a firm grip
on my mid-life crisis, I started Tikitiboo Marine Inc. which I operated
until January 2006. As chief cook and bottle washer of Tikitiboo Marine I
designed, fabricated and installed custom instrumentation and other
installations. Everything from gel coat matches and fiberglass to
plumbing, electrical, etc. were part of my regular repertoire. I became a
certified Raymarine installer. Over the years I was involved in many
different and interesting projects and made many good friends.
In
January of 2006, after selling part time for Anchor Yacht Sales for a few
years, I accepted a full time position in sales.
Over the
years I have crewed on deliveries Albany to southern Florida, Bahamas to
Toronto and Midland to Toronto, Hilton Head around Florida to Destin in
the panhandle, etc. These have been some of my favorite sailing
experiences.
